MDC Alliance Dilemna is To Vote Or Not To Vote

A timeline of confusion
The Doubting Thomas Or Nelson
We have been told that they are going to be no elections by the MDC alliance that there are no elections unless ZEC reform itself. The same MDC Alliance has been telling people(note that I do not call rally attendants supporters) at rallies that the must go and vote for Nelson Chamisa on the 30th of July.

If you are a potential voter for the MDC Alliance I know you are just as confused by the mixed up messages from the patched-up Alliance.

ZEC Bashing
The Zimbabwe Election Commission has openly be labelled as an extension of ZANU Pf political commissariat by Nelson Chamisa at all his political rallies. The rally attendants are being conditioned to the extent that they are no longer able to distinguish the line between ZEC and ZANU Pf.

The danger is to ruffle the feathers of the referee, which is ZEC, before the match. The sole aim is to provoke members of the commission. The labelling of the commission is aimed as to tarnish its image and to ultimately blame it, for the inevitable loss of the elections.

The Battle has been lost before 30th July
Passion OR Apathy
The ordinary man in the street is not sure if the MDC alliance is aware of the Zimbabwe electoral processes. The MDC alliance is not happy with the voters'roll. It is not even aware of the postal voters as witnessed in the Ross Camp debacle. The MDC Alliance is confused even with the number of polling stations. It also does not know exactly the number of its candidates participating in the elections.

The confusion in the MDC ranks drives the passion and hope in the ZANU Pf support base and will be the source of apathy for some potential voters.

Protesting Or Participating
It is my belief that the MDC Alliance is protesting on everything on this elections. The voters are told that MDC is not happy with the

elections process but still want the same voters to participate. The voters and MDC supporters are not where the Alliance.

Is the Alliance participating or protesting?

The Independent Candidates Syndrome

There is a wind sweeping our politically landscape. It is the rise of independent candidates who feel they can compete with established parties candidates . We will not only have a record number of political parties but we will have record number of independent candidates too.

CONSENSUS OR IMPOSITION

The MDC alliance unclear method of electing candidates by consensus has not helped the situation. We have seen the likes of Majome of Harare West constituency elect to stand as an independent. It was not by choice but the policy of consensus on primaries has not gone down well with members of the MDC alliance. The consensus method, which has been a covert way of imposing candidates on the people, has resulted in disruption of the MDC alliance primaries.

INDEPENDENTS IN THE MDC ALLIANCE

The MDC alliance supporters has violently rejected the imposition of candidates by Nelson Chamisa. The likes of relatives of the late Morgan Tsvangirai imposed in certain constituencies by Chamisa has been rejected by the people. It is this move which will generate more independent candidates from the MDC alliance.

NO PARTY IS SAFE

The independent candidates syndrome is not only restricted to the opposition , it will affect the ruling ZANUPF party too. ZANUPF recently held primaries had some disgruntled losing members threatening to stand as independents. It takes a brave person to stand as an independent. It is this bravado that is baffling. The independent candidates are not afraid to take on the established parties despite limited resources and lack of grassroots support .

I wish the independent candidates good luck.
